Our Laser Equipment for Surface Vein Therapy

To view beneath the surface of the skin, we use the Syris 300. To treat the surface veins, we use the D940 SkinPulse S laser and the Zimmer Cryo Cool 6 air cooler. During treatment, the skin in the area being treated is cooled, eliminating pain and damage.

The D940 SkinPulse S Laser™ operates at 5 Hertz, which allows rapid, effective, and efficient treatment. The laser operates in two selectable modes: pulse or continuous. Spot sizes of 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 millimeters interchange easily, allowing us to precisely control the size of the area under treatment. Of all of the laser equipment available for treating spider veins, the D940 offers the smallest focal spot for the most precise application. The sole purpose and design of the D940 Skin Pulse Laser is for the treatment of spider veins. At The Vein Institute of Toronto, we do not use any laser that is not designed specifically for the treatment we are performing.

For your comfort and safety during treatment, we counteract the heating effect of the laser by cooling the area with a Zimmer Cryo Cool 6™. Cooling reduces the feeling of heat during the treatment and protects the outer layer of the skin (the epidermis) from potential damage, which allows us to apply the laser at its most effective level.

To perform the sclerotherapy that follows the laser treatment, we use the Veinlite T with Side-Transillumination, a patented method of rendering the area being treated with unprecedented clarity and uniform illumination. The Veinlite uses a halogen bulb to generate light that then travels though a fiber into the Veinlite ring. The ring directs the light at an angle and concentrates it to form a bright spot, allowing us to see the network of blood vessels and varicose veins with an unparalleled degree of clarity and detail. This level of detailed vision permits us to map the veins thoroughly, perform our treatments thorough, and so reduce the rate of recurrence.
